In Model UN, students step into the shoes of ambassadors from UN member states to debate current issues on the organization’s agenda. Students make speeches, prepare and draft resolutions, negotiate with allies and adversaries, and navigate the conference rules of procedure – all in the interest of mobilizing, “international cooperation” to resolve problems that affect countries all over the world.
Founded during the 2009-2010 school year, the BLMUN has accomplished a great deal in its inaugural ‘season’. Participating in the prestigious Ivy League Model United Nations Conference hosted by the University of Pennsylvania, BL Delegates were able to help construct and pass a total of six resolutions, while also earning recognition twice for drafting top position papers within committee. Looking to build on our first year success, the group intends to expand and participate in a total of three conferences during the 2010-2011 school year.
