Request Information

The admissions process is designed to be a thoughtful exchange of information.  We strive to have you gain an understanding of the Boys’ Latin School community, and we in turn will get to know both you and your son.  We hope that you get to know us for all that we are - beyond our outstanding academic program and our many cocurricular offerings. We encourage you to experience our community.  This web page outlines our recommended admissions process. However, do not hesitate to contact us throughout the year if your timing is different from the schedule below.  Boys’ Latin embraces important values and character development to help each young man attain a personal excellence.   Boys’ Latin values a diverse student population and actively seeks students without regard to race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, condition of handicap, or other prohibited reason.

Step One:  Gathering Information
Begin to get to know BL through information on our website.  Then, come to Open House (details below) where we will share helpful information about the school and the admissions process.  Plus, you can meet our students and speak with our faculty to discover how our program  relates to your son’s interests.   As well, you may gather relevant materials. Although attending an open house is not required, most applicants have found it valuable.  Please join us for the:

2010 Open House
October 17th, 2010
11:00a.m. in the Iglehart Center (South Campus/Middle School)
You will be able to pick up an admissions packet at the open house.  If you are not able to attend, you can request an admissions packet with a call or email to the Admissions Office at 410-377-5192 or admissions@boyslatinmd.com.  Please include your name, address, phone number, son’s name, and intended grade and year of entry in your e-mail. You may also click here to download our application .

Step Two:  Application
In order to measure a candidate’s qualifications, our committees review transcripts, recommendations, and results of standardized testing. Personal interviews and essays (Grades 6 -12 only) provide additional information.  While there is no age cutoff for most grade levels, we are conservative about late summer and fall birthdays.  For Kindergarten, candidates must be five years old by September 1 of the entry year.

Key dates are:
Applications due:
September- January 15
Parent Interview and Tour (grades K-12):
September-January
Student Interview/School day visit (“Shadow Day”) (6-12):
September-January

Arrange this date by calling the Admissions Office as soon as possible.  Parents and students (grade 6-12) should interview in the fall or winter of the year preceding the anticipated entry to Boys’ Latin.

Testing

Testing dates are available on our website www.boyslatinmd.com. Register for testing by calling the Admissions Office (I.S.E.E. scores are acceptable). Boys’ Latin does not administer its test under non-standard conditions (i.e. giving untimed or extended time tests)
