Boys’ Latin is a small, friendly, and intimate school, with 630 students in grades K-12. Our faculty has an average of 14 years teaching experience, 50% hold advanced degrees, and all are trained in the best practices of boys' education. With a student:faculty ratio of 8:1, class sizes are small and offer many opportunities for individual interaction with the teacher and student-centered activities.
To advance our commitment to being a school for boys, our faculty attend conferences dedicated to 'Boys and Learning', participate in workshops given by leading authorities in the fields of boys and brain research, and contribute to local conferences dedicated to the academic, social, and physical development of boys. We invite experts to our campus to lead hands-on workshops to continue to develop boy-specific learning strategies. Additionally, we visit other schools where such strategies have been developed.
As a result, the faculty of Boys’ Latin has implemented many boy-focused learning strategies and resources in our classrooms including the use of ‘boy-friendly’ books, brain breaks (movement exercises), ‘real-world’ projects, the use of technology resources to provide visual and spatial stimuli, full-spectrum lighting, and standing desks. We have also amended our school schedule and calendar to take into account what we know about boys and learning, and we have made significant efforts to partner with parents in providing appropriate learning environments and support at home.
The dream begins with a teacher who believes in you, who tugs and pushes and leads you to the next plateau, sometimes poking you with a sharp stick called "truth." Dan Rather
A good teacher is a master of simplification and an enemy of simplism. Louis A. Berman
The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires. William Arthur Ward
