Sheridan Studio Theatre

Boys’ Latin Theatre Arts Department

Boys’ Latin’s Theatre Arts program is dedicated to educating, supporting, and inspiring each student about live theatre. Our program here at Boys’ Latin encourages our students to learn how to professionally express themselves while learning in the classroom, working in the rehearsal process, acting on the stage, and managing the backstage areas. As a result, Boys’ Latin’s Theatre Arts constantly strives towards achieving excellence. Our dedication to producing live Theatre points us in many different directions and on many journeys. We attend field trips to Center Stage, invite professional actors to share their professional insights about Theater with us, attend tours to learn how professional theaters are conducted. We annually attend Broadway shows in New York city. Yet, most importantly, we learn how to advocate for the Theatre Arts, because we believe in the magic that live Theatre offers us. Theatre teaches us about ourselves and about the times in which we live. We receive powerful lessons from our experiences and journeys. Experiences that we collectively share as a group which remain in our memories throughout our entire lives.

"I now enjoy and look at plays differently.  For example, I focus on the lighting, the costumes, the props, and the way the stage is set up.  I love everything about it!"

Treasure Island Sails into the Sheridan Studio this Fall!

Oct. 20th – Oct 23, 2010

Book by Robert Louis Stevenson

Based on the story Treasure Island by Robert Stevenson

A treasure map discovered in a dead pirate’s sea-chest leads young Jim Hawkins on an expedition across the ocean to recover a fortune in plundered gold. Fair winds and favorable seas soon give way to mutiny, greed, and the evil machinations of a one-legged scoundrel named Long John Silver. Join Jim on an unforgettable adventure to Skeleton Island, as he fight for his life- and the lives of his friends- in the legendary tale of piracy and heroism.

“The time has come for us to produce an action driven, adventure story for even our youngest students to enjoy! Here in the upper school, our student actors love to act in adventure stories, in coming of age tales.  They love to be given the chance to learn the art of sword play. This production will be about fun, adventure, and about bringing a classic tale to our stage for all ages, young and old, to enjoy this fall!” Gina Molling, Artistic Director
