Arts

Students leave Boys’ Latin with an understanding of world history and culture that is enriched by their experiences in the arts. The arts are an integral part of the Boys’ Latin experience, just as they are an integral part of society.

In bringing out the best in our students, we seek to inspire their creativity. Some arrive at BL with easily recognizable talents. We give them opportunities to grow, to hone their skills, and to realize their dreams.

In others, the talents lie hidden, waiting to be discovered. Discovery might happen in seventh grade guitar class, or while using CAD software to design the ideal home. Or maybe ninth grade Scene Study reveals a talent for acting or writing.

In addition to learning about the arts, students compose music, produce music videos, write and produce dramatic scenes, paint and build works of art. Private music lessons are available, K-12, and there are music and art shows throughout the year for students to showcase their talents. The Upper School presents drama productions in the winter and spring, and each year a senior is chosen to direct the spring production—an experience rarely offered in a high school setting.
