One of the goals of the College Counseling Office is to help students and parents understand and successfully navigate the college process. Individual and group meetings are held throughout the year to assist you in determining college criteria, testing procedures, athletic eligibility, financial aid and more. I look forward to meeting with students and parents on a regular basis to explore the options available to the student and to ensure that the student finds the right “fit” when it comes to college selection.
One of the major tools for the college search used by parents and students is the Naviance website. Here, one can track their high school progress as well as follow their college applications. Also accessible on the website is the Boys' Latin acceptance history at any college. Students may also do scholarship and college searches. Each student/family is provided with a password for access to this service.
Parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their son’s college search but in a supportive, stress-free manner. It is hoped that this experience is a positive adventure, not a stress-filled, anxiety ridden one for either students or parents. Parents are encouraged to attend all of our college evenings and to make appointments whenever they like to discuss the process. Parents are also encouraged to visit our extensive college reference library for resources on the process.
