The Boys’ Latin School of Maryland seeks a Security Manager/Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of campus safety and security to ensure a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role requires a seasoned law enforcement professional with extensive experience in leadership, threat assessment, emergency response, and community-based security operations. The Security Manager will supervise security personnel, coordinate with school leadership, and serve as the primary liaison with local law enforcement and emergency services.
This is a full-time role, working normal school hours, Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekend hours as deemed necessary due to weather and/or school related functions.
Qualifications and Skill Requirements:
- Former sworn law enforcement officer (local, state, or federal)
- Minimum of 10 years of law enforcement experience with progressive responsibility
- Demonstrated experience in supervision, command, or unit leadership
- Strong knowledge of emergency response protocols, investigations, and incident management
- Knowledge of or experience in working in schools or education
- Experience working in or with schools, youth programs, or community institutions strongly preferred
- Ability to pass all background checks, fingerprinting, and required clearances
- Must have valid Maryland driver’s license and an insurable driving record
- Experience and knowledge of working with electronic access control systems and surveillance systems
- Must be able to be Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act qualified
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enforce campus security policies and procedures
- Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate school security personnel
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and vulnerability evaluations
- Respond to and manage security incidents, emergencies, and critical situations
- Coordinate emergency preparedness plans, drills, and training for staff and students
- Work in conjunction with local law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services
- Monitor campus access, surveillance systems, and security technology
- Investigate incidents and prepare detailed reports and documentation
- Promote a visible, professional, and approachable security presence on campus
- Support a school culture that prioritizes safety while maintaining a welcoming educational environment
- Coordinate with the Director of Operations to prepare staff and faculty for emergencies

- Ability to walk, stand, and patrol campus for extended periods
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies
- Occasional evening or weekend hours for events or emergencies
Preferred Training Experience (Not Required)
- School Safety or Threat Assessment
- Incident Command System (ICS) / NIMS training
