Community, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity Statement

The Boys' Latin School of Maryland strives to create an inclusive school community serving boys in grades K-12 and to prepare them for the pluralistic society in which we live, work and play.

Reflecting our motto Esse Quam Videri: To Be, Rather Than To Seem, the School fosters an environment in which all members - students, parents and families; faculty, staff and administration; and alumni and friends - feel welcomed and valued for their individual perspective. Boys' Latin values diversity in culture, family configuration, gender, learning style, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.

Originating from our core values of courage, integrity and compassion, Boys' Latin strives to create a learning environment where the richness of human experience is recognized, respected and embraced.

Michael Powell, Director of Community, EquitY and Inclusion

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to learn more about our School and the importance of community, equity and inclusion at Boys’ Latin. As we strive to prepare boys for the ever-changing world in which we live, we remain firmly committed to our mission and our values and recognize the importance of having a growth mindset.

At Boys’ Latin, we believe that each member of our community brings talents and experiences to campus, enriching the learning experience of boys and the lives of our entire community. We remain committed to creating an equitable and inclusive community and understand that this ever-evolving work belongs to all of us. I am excited about our continued focus and many successes in ensuring that all students feel a sense of dignity, pride and belonging. Because at Boys’ Latin, we understand the importance of knowing each boy for who he is today, and all he can be tomorrow.
