2024-2025 Athletic Awards

Multi-Sport Participation

Benny Laupert ‘25- Football/Wrestling/Lacrosse

Evan Rosen ‘25- Volleyball/Squash/Tennis

Charlie London ‘25- Soccer/Basketball/Tennis

At Boys’ Latin, we celebrate the time-honored tradition of multi-sport participation. In an era where specialization has become the norm, we recognize athletes who have committed their time and talents to playing three sports during this academic year.

The Leo McCormick Award for Dedication & Loyalty to Boys’ Latin Athletic

 Mrs. Phyllis Novotny

Mr. Leo McCormick, a 1926 graduate, was a foundational leader within the School and the athletic department for his entire life. He served as the Alumni Board President and held many titles before his passing. He loved the Lakers and their athletic department and teams. His wife, Virginia, set up this memorial award, which is given each year in Leo’s name to a member of the BL community who unselfishly gives to the athletic program and Boys’ Latin.

“This year’s recipient has been a tireless worker, a remarkable friend, colleague, and an ambassador for the entire athletic department. After 13 years of service, she has decided to step away from Boys’ Latin. If you are an athlete who has ever participated in a game, ridden on a bus, had a contest with officials or umpires, or referees, enjoyed a spring break trip with a team or maybe you are a senior who has enjoyed a senior day celebration, Mrs. Novotny has had a huge impact on your BL experience.”   Athletic director Michael Thomas

Woodward Cup for Effort in Three Sports

Benny Laupert ‘25

The Woodward Cup is named for Tillie Woodward, a longtime faculty member at Boys’ Latin who was the librarian, taught mechanical drawing, ran the School plays and coached lower school physical education.  She wanted the award to go to a student who played on three teams and gave outstanding effort each season.

Phyllis Miller Cup – Unsung Hero
