Celebrating a Legacy of Quiet Leadership: Blake Griffith ’27 Named Mitch Casper Award Recipient

Congratulations to Blake Griffith ’27, this year’s recipient of the Mitch Casper ’16 Award, an honor presented annually to an Upper School student who embodies the qualities that made Mitch such a meaningful part of the Boys’ Latin community.

Established in Mitch’s memory, the award recognizes an “unsung hero” — a student who lifts up those around him through compassion, empathy, care and a genuine sense of humanity. The recipient is someone whose leadership may not always seek the spotlight, but whose actions make a lasting difference in the lives of others.

Mitch Casper was known for that kind of quiet selflessness. He had a natural ability to make people feel seen, valued and supported, and he consistently put the needs of others before his own. The award bearing his name honors students who carry those same qualities forward.

Blake exemplifies this spirit through the way he shows up for his classmates and the broader Boys’ Latin community. His thoughtfulness, humility and willingness to support others reflect the character at the heart of the Mitch Casper Award. Whether through small acts of kindness or simply being someone others can count on, Blake demonstrates that leadership does not always have to be loud to be meaningful.

At Boys’ Latin, we believe the way a boy treats the people around him is one of the clearest expressions of his character. The Mitch Casper Award gives us an opportunity each year to recognize a student who lives that belief in a particularly meaningful way.

Congratulations to Blake on this well-deserved honor and for carrying forward Mitch’s legacy through the compassion, care and humanity he brings to our community.
