Honoring Compassion: The Mitch Casper Award

Honoring Compassion: The Mitch Casper Award

Each year, the Boys’ Latin community pauses to remember Mitch Casper ’16, whose life was marked by his quiet compassion and selfless spirit. After Mitch’s unexpected passing, his family, together with parents from the Class of 2016, established the Mitch Casper Award. Presented annually to an upper school student, the award recognizes a young man who uplifts others through empathy, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to supporting those around him.

This year’s recipient, Marty Dubin ’26, was honored for the way he embodies these qualities. Like Mitch, Marty leads not through recognition or fanfare, but through quiet acts of generosity and care that leave a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His steady presence and selflessness reflect the very essence of the award’s purpose.

Mitch’s family and several members of the Class of 2016 returned to campus for the presentation, offering both remembrance and celebration. Their presence served as a powerful reminder of the enduring bonds that connect the Boys’ Latin community across generations.

“Mitch’s legacy is one of quiet compassion and unwavering care for others. Marty reflects that same spirit through his generosity and humility, carrying forward the values that continue to define Boys’ Latin.” — Headmaster Chris Post

The Mitch Casper Award is more than a recognition—it is a call to live with empathy, to lift others up, and to find strength in kindness. Through Marty’s example, we are reminded that the spirit of service and compassion continues to thrive at Boys’ Latin, ensuring Mitch’s legacy lives on in the lives of every Laker.
