As part of our ongoing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, we are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Dr. Liza Talusan to work with our faculty and staff. As part of our summer CEI work, faculty and staff were tasked with reading Dr. Talusan's new book on identity, The Identity-Conscious Educator. "We are very excited to work with Liza Talusan as we continue to help ensure that all feel welcomed and seen at BL," said CEI Director Michael Powell.
Dr. Talusan is an educator, strategic change partner, leader, writer and parent with over 24 years of experience in PreK-20 education. An engaging facilitator, she creates an environment that allows people to build skills for conversations around community and equity, discuss difficult topics and empowers individuals to create a more inclusive environment.
Certified as a Professional Coach by the Institute for Professional Education in Coaching, Liza helps individuals and organizations achieve their goals by centering on values, strengths and vision. She has been invited to work with more than 300 organizations across the country.
Dr. Talusan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Child Development from Connecticut College, Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration from New York University, PhD in Higher Education from the University of Massachusetts Boston. She also holds a Certificate in Human Resources from Stonehill College and PCC Coaching Credentials. In addition to her work at the national level with corporations, non-profit organizations and schools, Liza serves on the faculty in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Massachusetts Boston, teaching both Masters and Doctoral Students
