Recently, 50 student-leaders from One Love groups across the country gathered in Washington DC. From April 22 through April 25 these young people convened to further the work of the One Love Foundation.
Trace Davanzo ‘24, BL’s representative, joined other attendees in training to advocate for relationship health education. The mid-Atlantic group met with Maryland Senator Ben Cardin and Representatives John Sarbanes, Glenn Ivey and Dutch Ruppersberger and their staff members to discuss the importance of One Love’s mission and relationship health education.
The conference afforded Trace and his fellow delegates the opportunity to rally to end teen dating violence, as well as to connect with others who share a passion for the One Love cause. Of his experience Trace says, “I found One Day for One Love really interesting. Just meeting people from all around the country who were all there for the same mission was an incredible experience. It was an awesome opportunity to speak with delegates and representatives about One Love and their mission.”
Following the conference, Collin McClelland, One Love Youth Leadership Coordinator, Mid-Atlantic, wrote to Mrs. Kenney, BL director of counseling and One Love Club advisor, about Trace, “Trace is a remarkable young man who dove headfirst into everything we asked him to do. He did a great job representing his communities…Overall, I am so impressed with the young men I have met at BL; they are great young men who are true champions of One Love.”
