Varsity Lacrosse & Baseball Bring Home MIAA Championships

Varsity Lacrosse & Baseball Bring Home MIAA Championships

It has been an incredible week for Laker Athletics.  For the first time in School history, the varsity baseball and varsity lacrosse both won their respective MIAA Conference championships in the same year!

On Friday, the varsity lacrosse team played Archbishop Spalding for the MIAA "A" Conference title at Navy Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis. BL, down 6-4 in the third quarter, the Lakers scored five unanswered goals to take a 9-6 lead and hung on to defeat the Cavaliers, 9-8. This win now puts varsity lacrosse at eleven MIAA "A" Conference championship titles.

Yesterday, the varsity baseball team traveled to St. Paul's to play for the MIAA "B" Conference title.  Led by great pitching, hitting, and field play, the Lakers beat the Crusaders 7-6.  Ian McAslan '21 took advantage of a go-ahead run to give the Lakers the lead in the seventh inning.

As seasons come to an end, through a year of adversity and uncertainty, head baseball coach Bill Greenwell and head lacrosse coach Brian Farrell '06 have done an exceptional job keeping both teams together and prepared.  They both embraced the challenges that came with this year and ended their respective seasons as champions.

Congratulations to both teams and a special shout out to our senior student-athletes!
