Varsity tennis team continues to serve up victories!

The 2022 MIAA Individual Tennis Tournament took place at McDonogh on May 19. Boys’ Latin was well represented in the tournament, with players competing in four of the five championship matches.

Markus Engel ’22 and Finn Hopkins ‘22 competed in the highly competitive #1 doubles spot. Markus and Finn were trailing in the third set but stepped up when it mattered most, taking the set 6-4 and securing the #1 Doubles Championship. In the #2 doubles competition, freshman duo Evan Rosen and Charlie London also found themselves in a tight match. Despite dropping the first set, Evan and Charlie fought back, taking the second set in a tiebreak. The freshman duo went on to win the #2 Doubles Championship by taking a back-and-forth third set 6-4.

On the singles front, James London, ’24, playing his best tennis of the season, cruised to a straight-set victory winning the #2 Singles Championship. In an epic 3-hour battle on center court, Paul O’Connor showed why he is the strongest player on the team. His grit and determination were a sight to behold. Although he came up a little short, much of the team’s success is thanks to Paul’s dedication and leadership
