"Albert Einstein once said, 'A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.' I tell my students to always try something new, give it their best and that practice makes progress, not perfection. No one is asking for perfection."

Teaching At BL:
Ms. English's approach to teaching is active, hands-on, systematic, and structured. She likes to create a learning environment in which her students are comfortable and willing to take risks.

Ms. English loves to teach reading because for her, as she says, "There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing a child learn to read and write, or do it better than he was able to at the beginning of the school year." She enjoys seeing her students have their 'aha' moments, energized by being able to provide them with the tools they need to succeed. "Each day, I take on the challenge to inspire the best in every boy I teach."

Though she has taught at a variety of schools during her career, Ms. English feels she's found her niche at BL. "My colleagues are professional, extremely qualified, and wonderful to work with. They make learning fun and have inspired me to do the same."

What's More:
Ms. English has a daughter, Grace, and a son, Bennett, a BL student. "Since coming to BL, I have seen such a transformation in him. He thoroughly enjoys all of school now, not just gym class anymore."

While not at BL, Ms. English enjoys family time with her children, watching them play lacrosse, attending an Orioles or Ravens game, and vacationing at the beach in the summer. An avid reader, she counts Bridge to Terabithia as one of her favorite books.
