"Find your strengths - everyone's is different and this is what makes you extraordinary. Make sure to take chances and step out of your comfort zone, but be certain you also think through something before jumping in blind. Not all risks are positive and consequences can often be permanent so follow your instincts while using your mind. If you hear a little voice trying to tell you something, be sure to listen!"

Teaching At BL:
Mrs. Hine loves teaching second grade. "Second grade is where students really start to be more independent. Throughout the year, they grow tremendously. You can see the beginnings of their developing into wonderful, respectful young men."

While she says all her students are bright, Mrs. Hine also recognizes that not all of them learn the same way. "Everyone learns differently and it is important to help the boys understand their own learning capacities and strengths, then help them use this knowledge to be the best they can be."
And for her, "Boys' Latin is family." She says, "The faculty is truly the best group of teachers I've ever had an opportunity to work with. The families are supportive and caring. And the boys are the best. I can't see myself teaching anywhere else."

What's More:
Mrs. Hine has three children, Madison, Hunter and Skeet, as well as two step-daughters, Hannah and Alyssa. Both boys attend BL. But the entire family, including her husband and her parents, consider themselves honorary Lakers.
She a serial reader, and includes the Game of Thrones and Harry Potter series' among her favorites. When it comes to movies, she will watch anything with Will Ferrell. You can also count on her being first in line for any Star Wars movie.
