Teaching At BL:
Mr. Stone values openness, honesty, and humor when exploring literature in the classroom. Stressing the value of individual interpretation, he encourages each boy to offer their personal viewpoints, striving not for "perfection" but self-discovery and personal growth. Whether being read aloud or written in a journal, he believes there is magic in words. "Students can learn so much about themselves by seeing what comes off the tip of their pencil or what gets plucked into the keyboard throughout the writing process."

When it comes to what he loves about BL, it's hard for Mr. Stone to pick just one, explaining, "the culture here is incredible. It is a place where teachers and students alike hold one another to high standards, and where new and innovative ideas are welcome. The students truly build a brotherhood that brings a unique flair and energy to the classroom."

What's More:
Family is incredibly important to Mr. Stone. His mother is also a teacher and his father is a college football coach. He also has two brothers, an Army Lieutenant and a college senior.

Outside BL, Mr. Stone spends time traveling, hiking, kayaking, fishing, running, and reading. His favorite books are The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway and The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay. When not adventuring outdoors, he plays in men's lacrosse leagues and does work with the nonprofit Moveable Feast, helping put healthy food on the table for people with life-threatening illness.
