Earlier in his career, Mr. Kennedy was a researcher for the National News section of the The Washington Post, where he did political research and reporting for The Post's 1984 and 1986 presidential and congressional elections. He was the editorial researcher for Behind the Front Page, a book by Pulitzer Prize columnist David S. Broder that examined the role of politics and media in society. Following his work at The Post, Mr. Kennedy was a marketing and public relations manager for a number of Baltimore-area hospitals, where he won numerous local and national writing and publication management awards. His recently published works include:

  • The Smell, Taste of Words, The Baltimore Sun, May 3, 2016
  • A Baltimore Tale: The Murder of Patrolman John Dailey, The Baltimore Sun, August 20, 2016
  • Letting Go of the Colts, The Baltimore Sun, October 20, 2016

Teaching At BL:
Mr. Kennedy makes the chief goal of his history class very clear to his students, and that's to make connections throughout the millennia. He says, "I like seeing students become more open-minded, reaching conclusions based on facts, rather than ideas that crowds follow and influence public opinion."
He loves teaching at BL because, as his alma mater, "it's a place where I learned a lot about people and life in general from some fantastic teachers and mentors. I would like to, hopefully, pass that along to a new generation of young men."
