Teaching At BL:
Mr. Roche's teaching approach begins with having a growth mindset or the belief that despite the challenges they may face, all students ultimately have the ability to achieve their goals and reach their potential. He strives to be a reflective, intentional practitioner and create teacher-student relationships built on mutual trust, respect and caring.
Every year, Mr. Roche enjoys supporting students who learn in nontraditional ways and then seeing them unlock their potential and discover something new about who they are as a learner and gaining confidence and developing resilience along the way.
One of Mr. Roche's favorite things about BL is that teachers and other professionals are treated with respect and dignity, and that the administration works from a growth framework, always willing to support the faculty's ideas, help launch initiatives or just listen after a difficult day. Mr. Roche also remarks that the entire community at BL is dedicated to the success and growth of all of the boys and will do everything in their power to help each student make the most of their experience on Lake Avenue.

What's More:
Outside of teaching, Mr. Roche enjoys the outdoors and going mountain biking, fishing, camping and hiking with his family. He also coaches for the Fallston Recreation League (his oldest son's indoor and outdoor soccer teams and his youngest son's baseball team). Both boys attend BL. He and his wife love to get out when they can to eat Indian food and see live music.

Additionally, Mr. Roche plays guitar in a folk/bluegrass band and is an avid reader.
