Teaching At BL:
Calculus can be challenge, so Mr. Sergeant makes it a priority for his class to be both interesting and engaging. He structures classes so that the boys have the opportunity to get up to the board, successfully or not. "I encourage the boys to get comfortable with failure, and to use those failures to improve their own learning."
A self-proclaimed nerd at heart, Mr. Sergeant wants to break the typical nerd stereotype by showing boys that one can be both a jock and a nerd.
Mr. Sergeant is more than a teacher. "High school boys are transitioning into adulthood and need a good male role model, whether they know it or not...the relationships I build with both the faculty and the students make my role at BL not feel like a job at all. I relish the interactions and conversations I find myself in on a daily basis whether they are before school, in the hallways in between class, during lunch, after school, or during practice."

What's More:
Mr. Sergeant is happily married. He loves to read Sci-Fi and is happy to recommend some amazing books for anyone who is interested.
If he wasn't working at Boys' Latin he'd be training to be the first astronaut to walk on Mars. His favorite movie is The Matrix.
