Teaching At BL:
As the art teacher for BL's younger boys, Mrs. Cardarelli believes it's never too early (or late) to develop an appreciation for art--not just art for art's sake, but also as a means for problem solving. She combines fine arts with a challenge requiring problem solving in every class.
What she loves about BL is the freedom she has to design her own curriculum, fine-tuning it year after year, but also that she gets to teach the same boys for a number of consecutive years. She gets to know each one of her students and learn what energizes each boy's imagination. For her, it's yet another way BL creates everlasting bonds, a true feeling of belonging to a larger family. Indeed, she has had the privilege of knowing BL students for decades.

What's More:
Mrs. Cardarelli has passed along her creative genes to her two children. Her daughter, Juliana, lives in Hollywood and works in film production. Her son, Joe, lives in Brooklyn and designs software and apps for athletic and musical events. Joe, she notes proudly, is a 2003 graduate of BL, after which he attended the University of Vermont.
In her spare time, Mrs. Cardarelli enjoys painting and traveling.
