Private school integration in the 1960s

A discussion Dr. Stephen Wright ’69 and Robin Williams.
The Boys’ Latin Black Awareness Club hosted about 35 students and faculty for a guest discussion with trustee Dr. Stephen Wright ’69 and Robin Williams, daughter of former headmaster Jack Williams. They spoke to us and answered questions about the integration of Boys’ Latin and other area private schools in the racial environment of the 1960s in Baltimore. It was powerful for the boys to hear Dr. Wright’s messages of perseverance, integrity, goal setting and cross-cultural collaboration, and they were moved by the social hardships that the Williams family and other allies chose to go through in the name of what was right. Many thanks to our community members for continuing to support our boys today and every day!
