We are excited to announce that Boys' Latin is the very first school in the country to be named a One Love Certified HERO School! We received this honor for the work that was done with the One Love Foundation during the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. To qualify for the One Love Certification, schools must demonstrate their commitment to healthy relationship education through a combination of educational reach, student leadership, and ongoing awareness-building activities.
Megan Kenney, One Love Club leader and Director of Counseling, is thrilled by this recognition. "This is a huge honor for us as a club and as a School. I could not be more proud of our club members for their commitment to educating our community, and raising awareness about this important topic,” Kenney said. “I look forward to our continued partnership with the One Love Foundation, as well as continuing to work with our students to help them be ambassadors for change."
Boys' Latin was also the first school in the nation to create a student club, the One Love Club, and today, we continue to be the flagship School for the One Love Foundation. The Boys’ Latin One Love Club strives to educate our boys on the importance of healthy relationships, helps boys identify the warning signs of relationship violence, and, most importantly, empowers boys and young men to make a difference in their lives and the lives of other students. Our One Love Club is active throughout the year, and efforts culminate in our annual School-wide One Laker/One Love Day. Boys' Latin and the One Love Foundation believe strongly that these conversations should begin early; therefore, our One Laker/One Love Day engages our entire K-12 community with activities tailored to specific ages.
Founded in 1844, Boys’ Latin School of Maryland is an all-boys private school serving boys in grades K-12. World-class faculty, challenging academics, and character development remain the hallmarks of a Boys’ Latin education. We equip young men with 21st-century skills; that is why we actively teach critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, problem-solving, integrity, and compassion. The outcomes speak for themselves: Boys’ Latin graduates attend top colleges and universities and are prepared for the real world and ready to make a difference.
