Teaching At BL:
Ms. McClung knows that, when she's having fun in her classroom, she knows her boys are having fun, as well. To keep learning fun, she strives to create lessons that are joyful and engaging. She loves teaching second grade and finding ways to challenge and support her boys to reach their personal best every day. She strongly believes that in order for her students to learn, she needs to generate enthusiasm in order to ensure they are truly connecting with the material. This engagement comes through a multi-sensory, hands on, and student centered approach, and her understanding that each of her boys are unique and all have individual strengths and challenges. Because Ms. McClung takes the time to really get to know the strengths and weaknesses of each of her students, she is able to "meet them where they are and take them as far as they can go." She hopes that each of her boys will have fun, be productive learners, and feel like a significant member of the classroom community each day.

What's More:
hen Ms. McClung is not in the classroom, she enjoys going for walks and snuggling with her lab, Boston, decompressing through hot yoga and curling up with a good book. One of her all time favorite reads is A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. Ms. McClung also helps with Sarah's Hope and supports The Richmond Animal Rescue League.

She finally had the opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream by going skydiving last summer. During her jump, she even said hello to her BL boys from 11,000 feet!
