Teaching at BL:
Ms. O'Connor has wanted to be a teacher since the first grade. She loves watching students grow and challenging themselves. A graduate of Mercy High School, she knows firsthand how important and influential single sex schools are for developing students. She brings a hands-on teaching style to BL and believes it is important to help students realize how the lessons they are taught can be applied in the real world. She finishes each class by asking students to give one way that they can apply the day's lesson. She understands how boys learn, and incorporates best practices in her classroom so that each boy feels confident, comfortable, and safe.
What's More: Ms. O'Connor loves cooking and spending time with family. She also enjoys nature and being outside, whether she's running, gardening, or reading. Historical books are her favorite because she likes to learn new things while she relaxes. A few years ago, she traveled to Costa Rica to help build a school for a poor community and loved teaching the Kindergarteners while she was there. At night, Ms. O'Connor enjoys relaxing with a few episodes of Modern Family. She also enjoys the Marvel movie series, and always sits through all the credits in the theater to wait for the secret part at the end. She loves elephants and high heels. Her Pez collection has grown substantially over the years, and continues to grow with the generosity of her students each year.
