Teaching At BL:
Mr. Sloboda has a hands on, real world approach to teaching. His classes are experiential and grounded by truth. "I would always rather have the boys gain an appreciation for existence and the processes that control it, rather than memorizing facts and figures."

Mr. Sloboda loves BL for numerous reasons, but particularly for the professional freedom to exercise his craft. "BL gives me a tremendous amount of freedom in what I teach and how I teach it. This keeps it fresh and interesting for me, which then transfers to the boys. As long as they pick up on my enthusiasm and interest, they seem to get interested as well."

What's More:
Some of Mr. Sloboda favorite books include The Pacific and Band of Brothers, Robert Jordan's book series The Wheel of Time, Martin's Game of Thrones, and Meditations in Green. His favorite movies are Snatch, Fight Club, The Longest Day and Casablanca.

Mr. Sloboda has a wonderful son who he considers the center of his life. Outside of the classroom, you can often find Mr. Sloboda in the great outdoors; he is a member of Trout Unlimited and the New York State Nature Conservancy and enjoys camping, fishing, fly tying, camping, sailing and boat building. He also enjoys live music, woodworking and reading.
