Teaching At BL:
In teaching French, Mrs. Howell wants to ensure her students gain proficiency in order to master personal communications. And while her approach includes all the requisite areas of language acquisition (e.g., auditory, verbal, reading and writing), she considers de rigueur the integration of games, competition and a lot of humor.
As she explains, "The French language and culture enchanted me at an early age. Having experienced the culture firsthand, it is now a joy for me to share something I love with my students."
She cherishes the connections she's made with her students, getting to know them as individuals. She also loves the faculty and staff, the autonomy of instruction the administration gives her, and the beautiful Laker campus.
Mrs. Howell and her spouse have one son, Timothy, who graduated from BL in 2003. Outside of BL, she helps out with the women's ministry of Mount Pleasant Church. She loves French movies, enjoys traveling, as well as reading about traveling (no surprise) to places in the francophone world.
