Teaching At BL:
Mr. Whitehair considers each one of his students to be scholars he has the privilege to train, guide and mentor on their path to becoming independent seekers of wisdom. That he gets to do this teaching U.S. History and World Religions - two subjects he's passionate about - is something that makes him count his good fortune.

And that all of this takes place at BL, what he describes as "a true community," is something that he never takes for granted. He says, "Everyone I've met here-my colleagues, students and even their parents-has at least one story about how they were supported by another member of our community at some crucial time. We're here for one another."

What's More:
Mr. Whitehair brings to his teaching of history and world religion a unique perspective as both a scholar of religion and an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church.

Along with a colleague at Friends School, Amy Schmaljohn, Mr. Whitehair helped found and continues to steward a local professional organization, the Religion Teachers' Network, in partnership with the Institute for Islamic, Christian and Jewish Studies. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion, a nationwide professional organization.
